Amelchenko Gallery is pleased to present La Piscine, a summer group exhibition bringing together the work of contemporary artists whose practices explore themes of tranquility, togetherness, and celebration. La Piscine evokes the glowing essence of summer — sunlit pool reflections, radiant color fields, and the unhurried cadence of shared pleasures and leisurely escape. The exhibition features works by Monique Dukker, C. Finley, James Gortner, Lorraine Mahot de la Querantonnais, Victor Matthews, Hilary McCarthy, Nicole Newsted, Abby Rarig, Lee Tal, Fara Thomas, and Roddy Wildeman.

Dutch artist Monique Dukker presents luminous depictions of private swimming pools inspired by the quietness of nature juxtaposed with the dynamic plunge of color. Her vibrant acrylic works elevate ordinary scenes into alluring and idyllic spaces suspended between memory and reflection.

French painter Lorraine Mahot de la Querantonnais contributes richly textured paintings drawn from Saint Barthélemy, where fragmented perspectives, floating forms, and vivid color create surreal compositions of playful simplicity.

Artist Victor Matthews creates poetic works inspired by the landscape and tranquil spirit of island life. Matthews, whose career includes exhibitions at the Venice Biennale and works in major collections including LACMA, blends gestural abstraction with lyrical brushwork that evokes serenity, softness, and light.
New Jersey–based artist Abby Rarig explores inner peace and sentimental undercurrents through ethereal paintings layered with silhouetted figures, intricate patterns, and brilliant color palettes. Rarig's pictures invite viewers into dreamlike ambiance where time slows and moments of relaxation and connectedness are celebrated. Her brushstrokes highlight the restorative power of shimmering water and the lightness of being. Also featured is Fara Thomas who creates vibrant resin works that use transparency, geometry, and color theory. Thomas's sensory-rich and layered compositions immerse viewers in a kaleidoscopic of radiant fields of coloration, depth, and contemplation.

Together, La Piscine offers an exhilarating visual experience — an invitation to surrender to summer reverie and immerse oneself in conceptions that are rapturously transcendent.
