Afterglow

Afterglow brings together seven contemporary artists whose singular visions converge in a vibrant interplay of color, form, and perception. From electric abstraction to intimate, dreamlike narratives, the exhibition explores the elusive beauty of what remains—the sensations, impressions, and fragments of experience that linger beyond the moment itself.

Amelchenko Gallery is pleased to present Afterglow, a group exhibition exploring the lingering beauty of a moment just passed—when summer’s intensity softens, color deepens, and its warmth remains suspended in the air.

Golden light. Hazy afternoons. Electric sunsets. The memory of warm nights. Afterglow considers what stays with us after a season has unfolded—the trace of an experience, the pull of recollection, the sensation of something not quite gone.

Featuring works by Torben Giehler, Suzan Globus, James Gortner, Donna Levinstone, Victor Matthews, Verdiana Patacchini, and Abby Rarig, Afterglow brings together seven contemporary artists whose distinct practices explore color, atmosphere, perception, and desire through abstraction, figuration, and expressive materiality.

Abby Rarig’s In Good Company distills a familiar scene into bold silhouettes, rhythmic pattern, and saturated color. Reflections dissolve across the foreground, lending an otherwise intimate, everyday encounter a dreamlike quality.

In Torben Giehler’s Lost Keys, passages of pink, violet, and electric blue emerge through intersecting planes, suggesting color caught within a shifting architecture. The composition conjures a heightened reality, as familiar space is transformed into something vibrant and momentarily otherworldly.

Across the exhibition, works move between luminosity and shadow, intensity and restraint, nostalgia and anticipation—echoing the shifting mood of a season in transition.

An afterglow is both visual and visceral: the illumination that remains after the sun disappears and the feeling that lingers after an experience ends. It exists in that suspended space between what was and what comes next.

Together, Afterglow embraces the beauty of transition, the allure of memory, and the undeniable pull of something you’re not quite ready to let go.
